Monsters University Fan Art!

Pixar is always inspiring artists all around the world to make their own creative, unique, fantastic masterpieces. A Pixar fan from Brazil named Luis Saguar recently took it upon himself to create some pretty amazing art, inspired by Pixar's upcoming prequel, Monsters University.

Luis first created the logo below, based on the design of the t-shirt that Jeff Pidgeon was wearing in a picture from an earlier post.

Later, he used this logo and put together some fantastic fan-made teaser posters (seen at the top) for Monsters U, and even made his own tagline for the film: "We Scare Because We Know How To"

My favorite is probably the orange one with Mike and Sulley, but all three are spectacular. Which one do you like best?

La Luna Added to Pixar Website

Not exactly "news", but Pixar's Oscar-nominated short La Luna has been added to Pixar's official website. There's a new still from the short film there, as well as some new information that we did not know about the short until now.

Be sure to catch La Luna in theaters this summer when it plays in front of Brave!

The Mysterious Stones from Brave

After watching some of the  Brave trailers, you've probably spotted a certain scene where Merida stumbles upon some mysterious looking stones, the ones seen in the picture above. They form a sort of circle, and are surprisingly tall.

Pixar didn't completely come up with these rock formations, as they are based on the real-life Stones of Callanish. Tourism for the area in which these stones are located is expected to sharply rise this summer when the movie hits theaters. Wouldn't you want to immerse yourself in the mystical world of Scotland and witness what Merida herself witnesses in the film?

The real-life Callanish Stones

The filmmakers visited these Callanish Stones while they were on their research trip to Scotland for Brave. According to this article, Brave producer Katherine Sarafian says the tall rocks are “a very powerful setting for the kind of things we want to have happen in the story”.

We are yet to find out what these mystical standing stones will have to do with the storyline, but we can be sure of one thing: Brave will be mighty awesome.

Brave TV Spot Higlights Action, Humor

With exactly three months to go until Brave hits theaters, Pixar has released a brand new TV spot for their new fantasy film. Unlike the other promo that debuted during the Oscars, which pointed out some of the more emotional and heartfelt aspects of the movie, this one focuses more on the humorous, exciting, and action-packed portion of the new film.

It has about just two seconds of fresh footage in it, but it does a good job building anticipation for the film, I'd say. Check it out below.

I just love that shot of one of Merida's little brothers sneakily stealing some goodies from a platter. I can't wait to see more of these michevious triplets, they seem like awesome characters.

These TV spots show how Brave will have a lot of the aspects that Pixar's films are well known for; action, heart, and humor. A good combination of these three makes for quite a delightful film!

Brave hits theaters June 22. Only three months to go!!!

Cars Land Brightens Up!

Yes, we now have even more news from Cars Land to marvel at. As the new 12-acre expansion to Disney's California Adventure finishes up construction, things are really starting to shape up and look quite spectacular. The recent addition of some neon lights makes all the difference in making Cars Land look as identical to Radiator Springs as possible. Watch the video below to see what I mean. It's almost hard to identify which town is the one from the movie and which is the real-life Cars Land version!

Cars Land opens June 15 this year! Which also happens to be the original release date for Brave, before it was moved to June 22. So it sure looks like June will be quite an exciting month!

Brave Video Game Coming Soon!

With every Pixar movie comes a great video game to accompany the film. This summer, get ready to experience the adventures of Merida on your gaming console in an all new video game.

Brave: The Video Game will allow you to embark on Merida's epic journey, as well as play as some of the other fantastic new characters from Pixar's latest feature. You'll be able to "run, jump and battle your way through the rugged landscape of mythical and mysterious Scotland". By using a sword and a bow, players will be able to experience the film's story like never before on their gaming consoles. Read the whole press release here:

By using their wits and bravery, gamers will also be able to wield a sword and bow to defeat fierce enemies, break a magical curse and save a kingdom. The video game will release summer 2012, in conjunction with the film.

A third person action-adventure, “Brave: The Video Game” expands the tale beyond the movie’s storyline. Gamers can play as Merida, an expert archer and heroine, and in the console versions, players can also play as other entertaining characters from the film. In addition, they will be able to go on quests through a magical world and solve puzzles to uncover secrets.

“We’re excited to offer a compelling game across multiple platforms for fans of the upcoming Disney•Pixar film ‘Brave’. The console versions of “Brave: The Video Game” offer a variety of gameplay, including single-player, co-op for family and friends, and a special Bear mode, where players will be able to play as a bear. Several new opponents created exclusively for the game will challenge the player throughout the experience, culminating with an ultimate boss battle to complete the adventure. The Nintendo DS game is filled with its own exciting missions and a myriad of characters to engage single players.

“Brave: The Video Game” launches Summer 2012 for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Wii™, Nintendo DS™ and Windows PC/MAC.

Sure sounds like another fantastic, addicting game. Having played both the Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 video games in the past, I have high hopes for this one, and I have nearly no doubts that it will not dissapoint.

Expect Brave: The Video Game to be out sometime in June; about a week or so before the movie opens in theaters. Although I'd avoid playing it before seeing the actual film, as it could hold a spoiler or two. I'll definitely be checking to game out sooner or later, however. It just sounds too cool to ignore.

Brave Standees Arrive in Theaters!

With only about three months to go until the theatrical release of Pixar's Brave, several movie theaters are already getting ready to welcome the film onto their screens in June.

Some neat theater standees for Brave have started to show up here and there, and they really are quite nice. I've always enjoyed observing these standees, and they always get me super hyped for whatever movie they are of.

I particularly like this little hanging decoration featuring Merida's little triplet brothers. I have a feeling they are going to become some of my favorite Pixar characters.

Are there any Brave decorations at your local theater? Be on the lookout for them, and don't miss Brave, in theaters June 22!

Jeff Pidgeon Sports a 'Monstrous' Shirt! [300th Post!]

In case you're wondering, no, those aren't the actual Pixar studios in the picture above. What you're looking at is a part of Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida) called "Pixar Place", which is styled to resemble the real Pixar studios. I've been there in the past, it's pretty neat.

But the background in this picture isn't the important thing here. The reason I posted this is because the man posing in the foreground is none other than Jeff Pidgeon, a story artist at Pixar and also the voice of the three Toy Story Aliens. He appears to have recently visited Disney World. I actually once saw Jeff in real life. He walked right by me when I visited the Pixar studios last May. But at the time, he wasn't wearing the peculiar shirt that he is sporting in this picture.

At first glance, Jeff's shirt isn't really anything amazing, really just your average brown t-shirt. But look closely, and you'll notice the lettering "Monsters University" on the shirt, along with a familiar, slightly altered logo. Yes, Jeff's shirt is an exclusive Monsters U production shirt, available only to those working at Pixar, and possibly to those lucky enough to visit the studio.

In many pictures and videos, Pixar employees can be seen wearing cool shirts, hats, or other accessories that have the title of one of Pixar's films on them, and these clothing articles may eventually make their way to the Pixar Studio Store, which is open to anyone that can get inside the building.

I just posted this because it's one of the first little glimpses of "news" regarding the upcoming Monsters prequel. Which reminds me, if Pixar decides to follow tradition this year and release a teaser trailer of the film coming after the one being released that certain year, we may be seeing a Monsters U teaser this June!

Also, this just happens to be the 300th post on this blog! It seems that just yesterday I was starting up this blog with big hopes, and now, after nearly two years, Pixar Corner has come pretty far! It's always a nice feeling when I write another 100 posts about the best animation studio in the world!

Yet Another Peek Into Cars Land

The grand opening of the new Cars Land is racing towards us, and by the look of things, it really is shaping up to be a fantastic new addition to the Disneyland Resort. Visit the Disney Parks Blog to see three new images from the new land in Anaheim, and check out the video below that talks about the different aspects of Cars Land, as well as the inspiration for this new Cars-themed 12-acre expansion to Disneyland.

It sure looks like this new addition will make Disneyland even better than it already is!

Cars Land will open its doors on June 15!

New Brave Japanese Poster and Trailer!

The new Japanese poster and trailer for Brave debuted just this week, and, I have to say, even though I can't speak or read Japanese, they are quite fantastic, both the trailer and the poster.

The poster (seen above) is absolutely remarkable, I must say. I do like the one we saw recently a little better, but this one deserves to be called a masterpiece as well. I love Merida's heroic stance, and the eerie, mystical bear above her.

As for the trailer, I may not understand a word that the characters are saying, but it truly highlights how dramatic and thrilling Brave will really be. It is composed of mainly never-before-seen footage, which makes this trailer all the more exciting to watch. Beware, it does contain minor spoilers, but it's not like they would put the whole movie in the trailer, so if you want to watch it you can still expect to find plenty of surprises when you see Brave in theaters this summer.

Here's the Japanese trailer with English subtitles:

***SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO SAVE NEW PLOT DETAILS FOR THE MOVIE***

That's all we have for now, but stay tuned, as there will likely be mounds of Brave news in the months to come! I think it's safe to hope for one last trailer before the film hits theaters in June!

Neat La Luna Development Pics

Pixarian Dice Tsutsumi, with his take on Bambino on the computer.

These have been around for a while now, but I just thought I'd share with you some pictures of the development process of La Luna, Pixar's latest short film. They were tweeted by the director of the short himself, Enrico Casarosa. Making an animated short film looks like it can be quite tough at times. Enjoy them below:

Archery in Brave is Incredibly Authentic

One might think that, when making an animated movie like Brave, and having an archery scene like the one from last week's trailer, you could just make the arrows end up wherever they're supposed to. Despite this, the creative masterminds at Pixar took the archery to the extreme, and went through hours of what was probably some extremely tiresome research, just to make the way in which the characters shoot their arrows as authentic as possible.

Apparently their efforts paid off, as an archery teacher recently pointed out on Wired.

"It’s obvious that the filmmakers have taken considerable care to get the details right, which helps to make the story more believable and exciting. This makes total sense when you consider that the film was originally titled The Bow and the Bear."

Well, it was actually titled "The Bear and the Bow", not "The Bow and the Bear", but that's not the point.

The writer looks into each of the archers' ways of shooting the arrows, and tells us that they are "making the actual mistakes that beginners and self-taught archers make."

More proof that Pixar always makes its films the absolute best quality possible.

Watch last week's trailer/clip here:

Be sure to read the whole article, as the author makes some very insightful observations. Brave takes aim at theaters on June 22!
